The Firebird Theatre & Center for the Arts Present Rocky Horror Picture Show, a screening of the 1975 cult classic! Featuring an interactive shadowcast starring some of Crested Butte’s hottest talent and directed by Delaney Young, this night of absolute pleasure encourages unbridled audience participation, including but not limited to throwable prop bags, call-backs, dancing & dress up. So get rowdy, and let’s do the Time Warp again! Costumes are strongly encouraged!

Auditions!

Calling all WILD AND UNTAMED THINGS! Firebird Theatre, in collaboration with the Crested Butte Center for the Arts, would like, if we may, to take the Valley on another strange journey with our fourth annual shadowcast screening of The Rocky Horror Picture Show! Auditions for the shadowcast will take place in-person between 6pm and 8:30pm at the Crested Butte Center for the Arts’ Schaul Dance Studio on Monday, September 28th (auditions should not take more than 15 mins each). Actors should come into the audition with their current availabilities and conflicts for the month of October as well as some working knowledge of The Rocky Horror Picture Show (1975) and the traditions surrounding shadowcast screenings of the film. They should also be prepared to shadow act (i.e. lip sync and mimic character movements) around 30 seconds of a song from the film and to perform the basic choreography of the “Time Warp.” On-site reference via either video or audio will be provided for actors upon request.

Only actors aged 18 and over at the time of the audition will be considered for this production. No experience is necessary to be a part of this production, but actors must be comfortable with semi-nudity and strong language to be cast. Performers of all gender identities are encouraged to audition, and all roles will be open for unconventional casting. Preference may be given to those with prior shadowcast experience in some cases. The performance itself will take place at the Center on Friday, October 23rd. Rehearsals for the shadowcast will begin shortly after auditions. We hope to see some of you there!
