This September, Firebird Theatre is proud to be able to present our next Shakespeare in the Park production: A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Shakespeare’s Athenian pastoral comedy about fairies, donkeys, and rude mechanicals is considered one of the Bard’s greatest works. This production is directed by Tristan Buss and will include the use of mask-work inspired by the techniques of Ancient Greek theatre and Jacques Lecoq. Filled to the brim with wonderful wit, love triangles, physical comedy, and surprisingly dark turns, Midsummer has just about anything one could want in a night at the theatre!
Performances for this show, a first for Firebird’s Shakespeare in the Park series, will take place on both ends of the valley. Shows on the first weekend (August 23rd and 24th) will take place at our traditional location of the Crested Butte Railroad Depot while the second weekend (August 30th and 31st) will be at the Quigley Bandshell on the Western Colorado University campus. Keep in mind that this will be an outdoor show, so be sure to bring raingear, chairs, and/or blankets with you! More information to follow!
